The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled, hands-on Technical Lead to guide our engineering team within the Flights OTA Supply domain. You will integrate airlines, GDS, and aggregators into Wego’s platform, expanding flight options for our travelers. This team connects Wego with airlines, GDS, and aggregators, covering ticketing, add-ons, cancellations, and more for a seamless travel experience.

As a Technical Lead, you will co-create the technical strategy, mentor your team, and actively contribute to coding. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, reliable, and cutting-edge technologies in the fast-paced travel industry, while ensuring the success of both your team and the product.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and contribute to the backend engineering team, fostering a psychologically safe and collaborative environment.
• Architect and develop scalable integrations with airlines, GDS providers, third-party aggregators, and other flight inventory sources.
• Participate in coding, code reviews, and the implementation of production APIs and services to ensure scalability and reliability.
• Enhance team productivity through coaching, facilitation, and regular 1:1s
• Participate in hiring and building a strong, capable engineering team.
• Ensure best practices for application security, data compliance, and high availability.

Required Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in software engineering, with strong hands-on backend development expertise.
• Proven leadership skills with strong experience in Java, Spring Boot, Dropwizard frameworks, and working with database systems (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and caching technologies (e.g., Redis, Memcached).
• Solid understanding of system architecture, scalability, and reliability.
• Expertise in Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) practices.
• Experience with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Datadog, Grafana).
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate across engineering and other disciplines.
• Experience translating product requirements into technical specifications.
• Excellent communication skills for active listening, facilitation, and leading meetings.
• As part of our AI-driven Engineering culture, you will be expected to already have integrated AI tools like Cursor or GitHub Copilot agent mode into your daily software development process. We seek candidates who not only embrace these technologies, but also exercise critical oversight via iterating prompts, verifying outputs, and ensuring secure, high-quality code.
