Job Summary

The Database Architect is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing enterprise-grade database solutions across relational and NoSQL platforms. This role requires deep expertise in Oracle, PostgreSQL, and NoSQL databases, with strong experience in AWS cloud services for high availability, scalability, and security. The position involves leading database architecture strategy, migration projects, and performance tuning for mission-critical applications.



Key Responsibilities
  • Database Architecture & Design:
    • Define and implement database architecture for transactional and analytical systems using Oracle, PostgreSQL, and NoSQL (e.g., DynamoDB, MongoDB).
    • Design schemas, indexing strategies, and partitioning for optimal performance and scalability.
  • Cloud Integration:
    • Architect and deploy database solutions on AWS using services like RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, and S3.
    • Implement high availability, disaster recovery, and backup strategies in cloud environments.
  • Migration & Modernization:
    • Lead migration projects from Oracle to PostgreSQL or hybrid architectures.
    • Optimize legacy systems for cloud-native deployments.
  • Performance Tuning & Optimization:
    • Conduct query optimization, indexing, and caching strategies for large-scale databases.
    • Monitor and troubleshoot performance issues in production environments.
  • Automation & DevOps Integration:
    • Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for database provisioning using Terraform, Liquibase, or AWS CloudFormation.
    • Integrate database deployments into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Security & Compliance:
    • Apply PCI DSS and data security best practices for payment-related systems.
    • Implement encryption, IAM roles, and secure access policies for sensitive data.
  • Documentation & Standards:
    • Maintain detailed architecture diagrams, migration plans, and operational procedures.
  • Collaboration & Leadership:
    • Work closely with application architects, DevOps teams, and business stakeholders.
    • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance across projects.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience: 10–12+ years in database design and development, with strong Oracle and PostgreSQL expertise.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS database services (RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB).
  • Proficiency in NoSQL databases (MongoDB, DynamoDB).
  • Strong knowledge of SQL, PL/SQL, and PostgreSQL procedural language.
  • Experience with database migration tools and strategies.
  • Familiarity with Liquibase or similar database versioning tools.
  • Scripting skills in Shell and Python for automation.
  • Understanding of networking concepts, security best practices, and compliance standards (PCI DSS).
