Job Summary:
The EHS Lead and National Security Officer will be responsible for leading and integrating Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) practices with national security protocols to ensure a safe and secure workplace. This role involves developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive safety and security strategies in alignment with the organisation’s standards and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- EHS Management:
- Develop and implement EHS policies, standards, and procedures to ensure compliance with local and national regulations.
- Develop and communicate the site EHS strategy following Values and Vision given by Corporate EHS team in conformity with pertinent local legislation.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments of workplace safety and health conditions; identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
- Monitor and report on EHS performance metrics, ensuring continuous improvement in safety practices.
2. National Security Oversight:
- Lead security initiatives at the country level, ensuring the implementation of relevant organisation security policies and procedures.
- He/she should represent the subsidiary and have the mandate to develop local effectiveness and efficiency improvement in security measures and ensuring dialog and communication between counterparts from the divisions, local partners of business units and relevant Enabling Functions.
- Design a strategic and efficient local security framework based on the organisation Standards and in close cooperation with Enabling Functions and oversee their local implementation.
- Manage the maintenance and effectiveness of physical security installations (CCTV, access control, alarm systems).
- Coordinate emergency and crisis response efforts, serving as the first responder to security incidents and emergencies.
- Liaise with law enforcement agencies and local authorities to ensure effective communication and collaboration on security matters.
3. Training and Awareness:
- Educate local staff and third-party personnel on compliance with EHS practices, emergency response, and safety compliance and security regulations.
- Provide ongoing training to ensure awareness of current EHS and security issues, including crisis management and emergency response.
4. Risk Assessment and Management:
- Conduct regular risk assessments related to EHS and security; develop strategies to mitigate identified risks.
- Act as the single point of contact for all EHS and security-related topics, ensuring effective resolution and reporting of incidents.
5. Collaboration and Reporting:
- Collaborate with various departments to promote a culture of safety and security within the organisation.
- Prepare and present regular reports on EHS and security performance to senior management, including recommendations for improvements.
6. Compliance and Standards:
- Ensure all activities comply with domestic legal regulations, organisation guidelines, and the Code of Conduct.
- Participate in the supervision of tenders for security service providers and perform third-party security audits as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health, Security Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in EHS management and/or security operations.
- Strong knowledge of EHS regulations and security protocols applicable in India.
- Proven ability to analyze complex information and manage risks effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to represent the organisation's interests effectively.
- Proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
Skills:
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle crisis situations with a high level of stress stability.
- Familiarity with relevant EHS and security software and tools.
