Ericsson Research, Research Area Networks drives innovations towards 6G, and the 6G Network Platform. You will do:
  • Become part of our 6G concepts team, where you will develop and evaluate innovative concepts focusing on radio access network protocols (MAC, RLC, PDCP, RRC) and interfaces, targeting 3GPP standardization. You will have a great opportunity to contribute to defining and evaluating concepts and solutions for future mobile network systems and standards.
  • Engage with universities in research collaboration projects.
  • Be responsible for creating and driving Intellectual Property Rights and 3GPP standardization proposals.
  • Use and develop simulation tools for evaluating new concepts and solutions.
  • Be part of the continuous development and improvement of existing standards and products.
  • Be working in an international team of world-class researchers with different backgrounds and experiences, including some of the key authorities and technology leaders in mobile communication.
  • Assist in discussions with external partners as topic expert.

You will bring:

We are looking for highly competent and driven researchers with in-depth competence and experience in wireless communication systems, mobile networks, and network architecture. The positions are available for experienced researchers (Ph.D.) within the fields of electrical engineering, automatic control, engineering physics, computer science or related fields, preferably with demonstrated research experience and knowledge in the above-mentioned required skills. 




  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • A researcher mindset with the ability to deliver in open-ended and explorative tasks.
  • Strong personal drive and self-leadership skills.
  • Intellectual curiosity and innovative problem-solving skills.
  • Team collaboration skills, since daily collaboration and interaction with other skilled researchers are the basis for our ways of working
  • Experience in structured object-oriented programming, such as Java as well as scripting in Matlab and Python, from developing and running simulations.
  • Openness to other cultures and ways of working.
  • A good understanding or background in 3GPP RAN is a significant plus.
  • Experience from work or studies outside India is a plus.
