Job description

We are seeking a highly experienced Environmental Specialist to support environmental compliance, monitoring, and sustainability initiatives across a major PMC project. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental management roles within infrastructure, construction, oil & gas, or industrial projects, preferably in a consultancy or PMC setup.


Responsibilities:


  • Ensure environmental compliance with local, national, and international regulations, standards, and client requirements.
  • Review and monitor the implementation of Environmental Management Plans (EMPs) and Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMPs).
  • Conduct environmental impact assessments (EIAs) and support in preparation of environmental reports and submissions.
  • Perform site inspections, audits, and environmental monitoring (air, water, noise, waste, etc.).
  • Identify and assess potential environmental risks and recommend mitigation measures.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities for environmental permits, approvals, and inspections.
  • Evaluate and monitor waste management, hazardous materials, and pollution prevention procedures.
  • Support the implementation of sustainability and green building practices, where applicable.
  • Review contractors’ environmental documentation and performance to ensure alignment with project requirements.
  • Deliver training, awareness sessions, and toolbox talks on environmental best practices.
  • Participate in incident investigations related to environmental non-compliance or pollution events and recommend corrective actions.
  • Prepare periodic environmental performance reports for client and internal stakeholders.

Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, with at least 5 years in a PMC or consultancy environment.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, EIA procedures, and international standards (e.g., IFC, ISO 14001, LEED).
  • Familiar with construction and industrial project environmental challenges and solutions.
  • Experience with environmental monitoring tools, reporting systems, and management software.
  • Excellent communication, reporting, and stakeholder coordination skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
