JOB PURPOSE / OBJECTIVE
To lead the Electrical & Instrumentation discipline in E&I division and manage day to day activities of the overall detail/production drawings in Ship Building.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Lead the Electrical & Instrumentation(E&I) discipline in the assigned project(s).
• Oversee a team of E&I designers while carrying out design engineering and 3D modelling.
• Preparation of Design basis, Project specific specifications for ship building projects involving Basic / Detail engineering. Feasibility studies and Tender document preparation.
• Material engineering which includes preparation of Purchase specifications, Purchase requisitions, technical bid analysis, Supplier document / drawing evaluation after order.
• Construction engineering activities including MTO’s, shop drawings and job package preparation and issue.
• Co-ordination with Internal Departments, Customers & Inspection Agencies.
• Ensure that designs comply with the relevant codes, standards, regulations and procedures.
• Progress monitoring and adherence to scheduled completion of engineering documents.
• Ensure Compliance to HSES policies and procedures as applicable.
• Activity planning, work assignment, work scheduling and monitoring. Inter disciplinary checks & co-ordination.
• Ensure Compliance with all applicable information security policies & procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Education
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering.
Professional Qualifications (Certifications & Accreditations)
• Preferred – Any additional certification / courses in electrical & instrumentation engineering.
Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
• Sound knowledge of International marine Rules & Regulations (IMO convention, Codes etc.), Classification Society Rules, Flag state national Rules, Industrial standards & guidelines.
• Demonstrated ability to apply Electrical & Instrumentation principles in the development and specification of Electrical & Instrumentation systems and components.
• Design experience in electrical engineering software used in marine industry such as ETAP.
• Exposure to AutoCAD & 3D design tools like AVEVA
• Demonstrated high order interpersonal skills and the ability to operate within a multinational environment.
• Demonstrated ability to influence and motivate others with regard to continuous improvement.
Experience
• 9-15+ years in Accommodation division of Electrical & Instrumentation design in offshore rig building or ship building industry.
Languages
• Fluent written and spoken English.
