What this job involves:


We are seeking an experienced Senior MEP Quantity Surveyor to join our team in Abu Dhabi for a data center project, providing expert technical and commercial support across all project phases. This role requires a qualified engineer with comprehensive knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, combined with strong commercial acumen to manage costs, contracts, and procurement activities from inception to completion.


What your day-to-day will look like:


  • Update and maintain the Employers electronic cost management system in real-time
  • Negotiate and agree ROM/variation values with contractors (subject to Employer approval)
  • Coordinate, assist and lead the change management process for all variations and instructions; Review and assist/respond to contractor RFIs, variations, and change requests
  • Provide early warning advice / ROM on potential cost overruns or opportunities and prepare substantiation for proposed variation orders for Employer approval
  • Chair commercial, budget, and cost meetings
  • Monitor compliance with contractual obligations and Key Performance Indicators
  • Maintain register of variation orders with approval status and costs
  • Maintain and monitor registers of insurances, bonds, guarantees, and payments with status and relevant details
  • Monitor and report on cost performance against the Project Budget
  • Maintain comprehensive records of all commercial correspondence and documentation
  • Monitor and update the Risk and Opportunity Register with cost implications

Desired or preferred experience and technical skills:


  • CostX measurement software or similar– Advanced proficiency in digital takeoff and measurement.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and project management software.
  • Familiarity with BIM software and MEP modeling tools.
  • Experience with cost databases and benchmarking tools.

Required Skills and Experience:


  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum 8-10 years experience in contract and cost management within the Middle East construction market.
  • Minimum 3 years in a senior QS role managing complex MEP projects.
  • Strong knowledge of regional construction contracts (FIDIC EPC, design and build).
